Graeme Hunter Regional Officer for Scotland the National Organisation of Beaters and Pickers Up
As a relative newcomer to the whole shooting, beating and gundog world I found NOBs while researching beating after a friend suggested I try it out after my recent acquisition of a GSP pup.
I found the website and joined the forum and found a whole new world that I never knew existed even though I had worked in the countryside for over 10 years as a General Farm Worker.
Living just outside Glasgow means that I have to travel a fair distance to get to the bigger shoots in Scotland although I don’t mind how big or small the shoot is, if I can be there I will.
After a while it became apparent that there was nobody representing Scotland although the guys and girls down south were doing their best to cater for us. I was surprised when I was approached to ask if I would be prepared to step in as Regional Officer for Scotland. Apparently my enthusiasm for the countryside and the NOBs ethic was very visible.
Since taking over the RO role, I’ve witnessed the Scottish NOBs community come together to meet at gundog training days and at Scottish Game Fairs. I’ve met some great people and had the chance to see parts of Scotland I never knew existed.
I’m looking forward to being instrumental in spreading the NOBs word in Scotland and helping beaters & pickers up and shoots get the most out of NOBs and to help introduce new people to our wonderful lifestyle.
