Approximately ten years ago, having foolishly offered my services as a beater for a shoot, when one of their guns, a "pleading husband" asked, as there were not enough beaters.

Needless to say, I was hooked and for the last five years, I have been beating with a little dog called Millie. She is a Jack Russell / Collie Sheep dog cross! The enormous pleasure she gives me, despite the derision whenever we go to a shoot, her intelligence and steady manner always earns respect, from all who watch her work.

Prior to this, the only other outdoor pursuit I was involved in was as a jump judge / steward for the Tedworth Hunt.

For the last twenty years, I have run my own Property Management Company, in and around the Swindon area. Working as a project manager, often developing and refurbishing properties, as well as commercial lettings, the business has become quite diverse.

Choosing to expand by word of mouth and during times, when family commitments made it easier, I now run a group of ten companies, with over 20 staff and subcontractors.

I am looking forward to this new venture with The National Organisation of Beaters and Pickers Up (NOBs), with so many really nice people involved, who are enthusiastic and determined to make it work......WATCH THIS SPACE.
